Cairngorms National Park

Cairngorms National Park is a true treasure in Scotland. It is in fact home to the largest proportion of Scottish native wildlife, over a quarter of the country's endangered bird, animal and fauna are located here.

This region of the Britain is also the largest and most spectacular example of Arctic scenery and is synonymous with the majestic Highland landscapes that make Scotland iconic. A must see is the incredible Fall of Foyers (Scottish Gaelic for 'The smoking falls'), the 140ft waterfall that flows into the famous Loch Ness, inspiring a poem by the celebrated Rabbie Burns.

There is plenty to feast your eyes upon as well as a great variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. Cairngorms National Park includes five of the six highest peaks in the UK, each one a rewarding challenge for passionate and experienced mountaineers. For a less intensive way to enjoy the scenery, the huge range of the park caters for a vast wealth of low and high-level hiking routes.

The park also has over 60km of linked cycling routes as well as plenty of thrilling mountain bike trails too. For anyone looking to indulge in some snow sports, Cairngorms provides the best snow conditions in Scotland, with runs that hold snow throughout the season.

In the warmer Spring/Summer months, you will love white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and even tubing on the beautiful sections of the River Spey and the various lochs. Throughout the year however, visitors will be able to explore the mountains, moors, forests and lochs to spot the wildlife that call Cairngorms National Park home. The chance to see endangered creatures such are Red Squirrels, Highland Deer, Badgers, Capercaillies and regal Golden Eagles is a hugely memorable experience.
